GUWAHATI: The Koch Rajbongshi National Convention (KRNC) demanding 80 percent reservation for indigenous people of the State in the electoral bodies of the Lok Sabha, Assam Legislative Assembly, Panchayat and Town Community.
Talking to The Sentinel, KRNC general secretary Biswajeet Roy said that more than three lakh Koch Ranjbongshi names have been excluded from the published NRC and he demanded immediate inclusion of those names without condition.
“Recently, we visited the High Level Committee of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord and met the chairman. We placed before him our demand that before the implementation of the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, priority should be to reserve 80 percent seats for the indigenous people of the State in the electoral bodies of the Lok Sabha, Assam Legislative Assembly, Panchayat and Town Community,” said Roy.
He further stated that the sub-committee, chaired by Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma for granting ST status to the six communities, should submit a memorandum to the Central Minister for immediate implementation of the same.
