GUWAHATI: All Assam Sons of the Soil Indigenous Kochari Somaj has rejected outright the draft delimitation proposals published recently by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Somaj said that under no circumstances will they accept the draft delimitation proposals published by the Election Commission of India.
In a statement issued to the media today, the Kochari Somaj said that in a preplanned manner, the State Government hatched a conspiracy and sent a proposal for the delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in the state to the Election Commission of India. And the ECI followed the proposals it received from the State government while publishing the draft delimitation proposals, the Kochari Somaj alleged. The Kochari Somaj further said that the draft delimitation proposals published by the ECI will bury the political aspirations of the Kocharis of the state. The Kochari Somaj demanded 80 percent reservation of Assembly and Parliamentary seats for the Kocharis and other Scheduled Tribes of the State.
