KOHIMA-MARIANI ELECTRICITY PROJECT

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Asom Boro Kachari Yuba Chatra Parishad (ABKYCP) and a group of farmers from Golaghat and Jorhat districts have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister to inform them about the compensation which they have not received after their trees were mowed for the Kohima-Mariani electricity transmission project.

Addressing a joint press meet, ABKYCP working secretary BhaskarJyoti Boro alleged that the farmers have received compensation from the Kalapataru Power Transmission Ltd. at the rates of 2011 that were fixed by the State Agriculture Department.

They demanded that they should be given compensation as of the rates of 2019 fixed by the Department.

In this regard, MoS (Independent) Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjoy Kishan has sent a letter to the Kalapataru Power Transmission Ltd. to compensate the public of Golaghat and Jorhat districts for occupying their land for transmission of 400 KV electric current line. Kishan requested the company to look into the matter and take bold steps from their end to resolve the issues of the people at the earliest.
