GUWAHATI: A Karbi Anglong-based organization named the Kuki National Assembly (KNA) on Thursday urged the State Government to expeditiously redress the various grievances of the community.

Addressing the media here, KNA's president Seikholen Haokip said that around 30,000 reside in the hilly areas of Karbi Anglong, but the tribe has experienced no developmental measures even 75 years after the country's Independence. No member of the community has ever been a member of successive State Governments, he said.

Haokip demanded that as a prior assurance of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a member of the Kuki community should be nominated to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), along with creation of a Kuki Regional Council.
