GUWAHATI: A labourer lost his life while excavating at the Guwahati Refinery in the Noonmati area on Saturday. Two other labourers were also injured. They were engaged in excavation work for a project. The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim. As per sources, he hails from Morigaon. The other injured labourers were identified as Abdul Malik and Rajani Kalita. This incident created havoc among the labourers. After the accident, both of the injured were immediately rushed to one of the multispecialty hospitals in the city. One of the injured, Abdul Karim, however, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, whereas the other injured, Abdul Malik, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
According to refinery sources, refinery management has constituted a high-powered committee to investigate the entire incident. Meanwhile, action has been initiated by Guwahati Refinery management to support the bereaved family.
