GUWAHATI: The Latashil Bihu festival is one old and crowded Bihu festival in the city of Guwahati. And it is usually held between April 14 and April 17. But this year, the Bihu committee is facing a major problem due to the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations interrupted the Bihu program at Latashil, and delayed it unlike previous years. The committee members said that they complete the Bihu preparations by April 8 or 9, but this year, the arrangements are still not complete. This is a cause of concern for them.
The members said that they could not interfere in the Platinum Jubilee celebration, since it was a government decision. The High Court could have organized the program at Kalakshetra or Khanapara, but it was the decision of the High Court to organize the program at Latashil, and they could not oppose the decision.
The committee is concerned about the ongoing Rongali Bihu, since they have only five days which is not sufficient for completing the arrangements. It has become a tough situation for them to maneuver. And they find it very difficult to accomplish the preparations in time. The committee members are baffled whether to delay the Bihu program or celebrate it as usual.
