Lemon saplings plantation programme at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara

Teachers and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Khanapara recently planted 65 lemon saplings at a programme in the school campus.

GUWAHATI: Teachers and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Khanapara recently planted 65 lemon saplings at a programme in the school campus.

According to a press release, the plants were donated by Dr Abdul Hafiz, Senior Scientist and head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang under the Assam Agricultural University.

Further, 25 bottle palm (Keralian variety) were also planted in the school campus in connection with the observance of Teachers' Day. The programme was inaugurated by Barun Mitra, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Guwahati Region. The bottle palms were donated by Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM.

Bipul Kalita, in-charge of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Gardening Activities, Khanapara, remarked that through the plantation programme the school children are acquiring first-hand knowledge of plantation procedure and the names of plants, formation of compost and vermicomposting and their use, watering, taking care of plants and usefulness of plants. He also emphasized that the constructive programmes of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara have been made possible because of Sanjay Kumar, principal, and vice principal Babu Ram's constant guidance and support.
