GUWAHATI: Terror has been reigning in the hill side area of Santipur for the past few months following a sudden spurt in leopard attacks in the area. According to the locals, there are four leopards that prowl the streets and attack domestic as well as wild animals like monkeys. While two of them are full grown, two are smaller in size. The locals lodged a complaint with the Forest Department and the Department’s Zoo Rescue team laid a trap (cage) in the area on Sunday. Miraculously, one of the full-grown leopard was caught in the cage on Tuesday night. People of the area heaved a sigh of relief as they saw the Zoo Rescue team taking the animal to the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden on Wednesday.
