Guwahati: Keeping the debate over madrassas alive, Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), President Maulana Badruddin Ajmal can keep dreaming about re-opening madrassas in Assam.
"Ajmal's cabinet will be in Bangladesh or Pakistan. It will never be at Dispur. We will not allow that," Sarma said in a full of pun intended response to Ajmal.
Speaking to media, Sarma said that Ajmal will never be able to deliver on his promises and assurances of reopening the madrassas and taking the decision in a cabinet meet because AIUDF is never going to form a government in Assam.
Sarma was reacting to Ajmal's recent comments that he would ensure that madrassas are reopened and he would take the decision in a cabinet meeting.
The Assam government had earlier announced that all government-run madrassas would be shut down.
