LNIPE premises in Sonapur declared 'Containment Zone'

Following the detection of COVID-19 positive cases, the entire premises of LNIPE (Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education) in Sonapur, has been declared as a ‘Containment Zone’.

GUWAHATI: Following the detection of COVID-19 positive cases, the entire premises of LNIPE (Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education) in Sonapur (near Guwahati) under Kamrup Metropolitan district, has been declared as a 'Containment Zone' on Thursday.

The order of the administration stated that the measure has been taken in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students of the institute.

According to the order, the entire LNIPE premises has declared as a 'Containment Zone' for the next 14 days with effect from April 8, 2021. The Circle Officer, Sonapur Revenue Circle has already sealed the area. Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified a 'Containment Zone' are barred for the next seven days. Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect. The order is made under the regulations of 'The Assam COVID-19 Regulations,2O2O'and shall be effective from April, 2021 till April 21, 2021.

Any violation of the order will attract action under the provision of the "Assam COVI D19 Regulations, 2020", "Disaster Management Act, 2005", "The Epidemic Disease Act 1897'and other relevant laws of the nation, stated a release.
