GUWAHATI: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport celebrated the International Housekeepers and Environmental Services Week from 10 September to 16 September.
The event was dedicated to the frontline staff and their hardworking efforts recognized with prizes. The opening ceremony of the International Housekeepers and Environmental Service Week was organized last Sunday and it came to an end on Saturday. The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The event included organizing of several games including carrom, chess, musical chairs, spoon race, needle &thread and blindfold competition of both male and female categories where Ranju Thakuria, Ashok Das, Munmi Basfore, Bhabesh Kalita, Jonali Das, Jhon Das, Namita Bhuyan and Mukut Ali were announced as the champions whereas Khanin Nath, Suraj Shah, Sumitra Basfore, Namita Bhuyan, Lakhi Boro, Tulashi Baishya, Kiran Basfore, Anju Das came in 2nd place respectively.
Chief Airport Officer Utpal Baruah, along with more than 100 airport staff, was present at the closing ceremony. Prizes were distributed to the respective winners and all senior staff who had put in more than 20 years of service, were felicitated. In his introductory speech, Baruah said, “Thanks to all housekeeping staff for their dedicated service I can assure today that our facility is clean and beautiful because of all your hard work and dedication.”
