GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah appealed to the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to make Paresh Barua sit across the negotiation table. Borah reminded the overall contribution of the then Congress Government of Assam towards the restoration of peace in the state during the ULFA insurgency and the overall progress in the peace process. However, unfortunately, under the BJP Government, in the last nine years, there has been no progress in restoring peace. Rather, there is regular news of youth from Assam joining the illegal outfit. Bhupen Borah urged the Chief Minister not to use the ULFA issue as a mere political agenda and to show statesmanship and genuine effort towards the peace process with the ULFA by initiating discussion and to find a permanent solution and establish peace in Assam.
