GUWAHATI: The Third Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Lecture jointly organized by the Department of English of Cotton University (CU) and the Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Trust at Sudmersen Hall of Cotton University witnessed the presence of students, faculty members, guests and other members of the university.
Eminent litterateur, poet and translator Professor Esther Syiem, senior faculty with the Department of English, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong spoke on the aspects oral literature in the Northeast. Syiem said, “Orality in its primary form exists in villages. It’s important to go to the villages and just listen to the people out there. There’s a lot of depth and wisdom in their words who still live within the oral paradigm.”
Hosted by Dr. Kalpana Bora Barman, the other dignitaries present in the event include Prof. Diganta Kumar Das, Registrar of Cotton University, Dr. Hiren Gohain, Prof Satyendranath Goswami, Prof Robin Goswami, Prof Pradip Acharya, members of Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Trust and many others.
