AZARA: In observance of the Police Commemoration Day on October 21, Guwahati Police Commissioner, Deepak Kumar along with other police personnel, in the presence of noted personalities organized a memorial progaramme at the residence of police martyr Bhaskar Kalita’s residence in Mazirgaon, Azara on Monday.
Paying floral tributes before the portrait of the brave officer Bhaskar Kalita, the Guwahati Police Commissioner said that the sacrifice of Kalita will never be forgotten and the people of the State take pride in his bravery. Kumar also felicitated the parents of the martyr Khagen Kalita and Rajubala Kalita.
Noted social worker Subhash Sharma, who was also present during the programme said, “The family is under extreme financial crisis, as such, I appeal that the sister of the martyr, Jonali Kalita be adjusted in a position under Assam Police.”
Khagen Kalita, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bordumsa police station in Tinsukia district was killed in an encounter with ULFA (I) militants at the Assam-Arunchal Pradesh border on May 4, 2018. The deceased’s father Khagen Kalita also appealed to the State government for financial aid, as the sole bread-earner of the family was killed while serving the country.
