Martyrs' Day celebrated in Gauhati University

The Gauhati University NSS cell celebrated Martyrs Day on Wednesday at the AT Seminar Hall, stated a press release.

Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director, Students Welfare & Programme Coordinator of NSS, Gauhati University, spoke about the importance of celebration of Martyrs Day and said that the day is observed to pay tribute freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru, who laid their lives for the freedom of India. Dr Rituparna Bora, NSS PO, GU campus welcomed the guest and participants and said that for many young Indians Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev have become a source of inspiration. GU NSS volunteers Sumpi Kalita, Manisha Deka, Jeemoni Choudhary, Jowel Ahmed and Shubhankar Day spoke about the great contributions of the freedom fighters to the society.
