Massive fire breaks out in Guwahati's Basistha, 6 houses burnt

The massive fire erupted in Guwahati city in the afternoon time in the midst of the lockdown that has been called to contain the COVID-19

Guwahati: A massive fire broke out at Basistha locality in Guwahati city of Assam on Thursday, July 16. The fire completely burnt down 6 residences in the vicinity.

According to reports, the fire that originated in number 7 of the Coal Depot in Basistha, took place due to the tearing of an overhead electricity wire.

Soon after, fire tenders reached the spot and managed to douse the inferno.

Although much damage to properties was reported, the coal trucks that were parked in the area were saved from being burnt down by the massive Guwahati fire.

This news has been reported at a time when Guwahati has been put under lockdown to arrest the spread of the viral COVID-19 disease that has killed 25 city residents so far.
