Mastermind and prime accused in businessman's murder finally arrested in New Delhi

Months after the gruesome murder of businessman Avdesh Kumar Yadav in the city, the prime accused and mastermind was finally arrested on Monday in New Delhi.

GUWAHATI: Months after the gruesome murder of businessman Avdesh Kumar Yadav in the city, the prime accused and mastermind was finally arrested on Monday in New Delhi.

W Yadav, who had hired two contract killers to shoot Avdesh Kumar Yadav, had been on the run after the murder. According to sources, he had fled to Nepal to escape arrest. After that he had stayed in West Bengal for some time and then he moved to New Delhi from where he was arrested by Delhi Police with the assistance of Bihar Police. A team of Assam Police will leave for New Delhi to bring W Yadav.

In February, two bike-borne miscreants shot five rounds at Avdesh Kumar Yadav at Chatribari in the city. Two bullets hit his chest while three rounds were fired in the air. Yadav was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition. He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The miscreants were identified as Pankaj Kumar Yadav and Balu Paswan. They had come to Guwahati to kill Avdesh Kumar Yadav on the direction of W Yadav.

Police investigation revealed that there was years-old enmity between the families of Avdesh Kumar Yadav and W Yadav, which was the reason behind the murder. There are almost 30 cases registered against the two families.

Avdesh Kumar Yadav owned four garment shops in Fancy Bazar, a hardware shop in the city, a garment shop in Imphal and eight trucks. Besides, he was also a partner in a noodles factory. Yadav had three brothers. Two of them who lived in Bihar had also been killed years ago.
