GUWAHATI: The district-level steering committee and the Coordination Committee's meeting of Kamrup (M) District Tobacco Control Cell and District Health Society was held at the DC office here on Thursday with District Development Commissioner Atul Kumar Sarma on the chair.
Sarma laid stress on strict implementation of the COPTA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) in the district.
ADC Sharmistha Bora said that the police should deploy a nodal official to make the implementation of the COPTA strictly. When the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) issues trade licences it should ask traders to follow the COPTA strictly.
The meeting was attended by officials of various other departments.
