Meeting held to discuss preparations for Republic Day celebration in Guwahati

A meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha in the meeting room of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

GUWAHATI: A meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha in the meeting room of the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was held to discuss various issues related to preparations for the upcoming Republic Day.

The meeting was attended by the officers of the police administration, military and paramilitary forces, as well as the heads of various departments. The departments concerned were entrusted responsibilities for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the departments concerned in the meeting to complete the work of installation of CCTV cameras, make provisions for adequate lighting and drinking water supply, set up temporary toilets at the Khanapara Veterinary College ground where the Republic Day celebration will take place, and to start the practice for the parade.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to take measures to clean dustbins. Similarly, keeping the dignity of the national flag intact, the Inspector of Schools was entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that Republic Day is celebrated in the schools.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Dhrubajyoti Hazarika urged all departments to ensure that their duties are fulfilled five days before Republic Day.
