Meritorious Students Honoured Under 'Beti Bachao, Bet Padhao' Scheme

21 outstanding students belonging to government schools were felicitated.

GUWAHATI: The Women and Child Development Department of Kamrup Metropolitan district and the district administration today organised an event to honour the girls who had scored the highest marks in the 2022 Higher Secondary and Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate Examination under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme.

21 outstanding students belonging to government schools and also the management committees of 4 schools in the district who have shown excellence in the education of girl children were felicitated. A cheque of Rs 5000 (Five Thousand) and a certificate were presented as part of the award to each of these students.

And Rs 10,000 (Ten Thousand) each to the two students who obtained the highest marks at the district level in the Higher and Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate Examinations were also given. The meeting was chaired by Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha who urged the students to set their goals and move forward.

Additional Commissioner Kalpana Deka addressed the meeting and said that there should be no discrimination between boys and girls. The meeting was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Devjit Bora, School Inspector Prasanna Bora and District Information and Public Relations Officer Manimala Gogoi also congratulations and encouragement to the students present in the event.

The meeting also advised the members of the school management committee to continue their journey towards success in the future. The meeting also launched two awareness audio-visuals about the importance of girl child education in Kamrup Metropolitan under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme. One of these is sung by Additional Commissioner Kalpana Deka and the other by Meghali Bardoloi.
