Minister Bimal Borah inaugurates East Himalayan Trade Fair in Guwahati

 GUWAHATI: Inaugurating the 12th edition of the East Himalayan Trade Fair at Assam Engineering Institute Field, Chandmari, Guwahati, Bimal Borah Minister, Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprise said "Such Trade fairs certainly provide a boost to Entrepreneurs of the region". The Minister also added that this fair presents an ideal opportunity for entrepreneurs to enhance B2B interactions in addition to tapping the B2C segment.

Prior to the Minister's address, Director MSME, R K Giri mentioned that one of the purposes of the department here was to enhance trade between the North Eastern Region of the country with South East Asia and that the department is continuously engaged in boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem through its various initiatives and programs aimed at supporting and empowering business owners. The Commissioner Industries, Commerce and PE went on to add that by rotating the trade fair to each of the Northeastern states including the neighboring countries of Bhutan and Nepal, the entrepreneurial community will receive a significant boost and have greater opportunities for growth. The East Himalayan Trade Fair is a week-long event that started on Monday and has been organized by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation in association with the Industries, Commerce and PE department, Government of Assam. The inaugural function was also attended by Dr. Laksmanan S, secretary Industry, Government of Assam, Chinmoi Phukan, MD, Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Sunil Deka, Chairman APTO etc, stated a press release.
