Minister Bimal Borah instructs GMs to encourage new entrepreneurs

 GUWAHATI: The Assam Administrative Staff College hosted a daylong conclave on Thursday organized by the Department of Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprise, Government of Assam. The main goal of this conclave, which was mentioned in the opening remarks by Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprise Department, is to grow Assam’s industrial sector in the near future.

Minister Bimal Borah has placed great importance on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Assam. The establishment of the MSME sector within the Assam District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC) has been crucial in this regard.

The Minister has instructed the General Managers (GMs) to actively encourage new entrepreneurs to foster growth in the MSME sector. Additionally, he has requested feedback on Uddyam 2023 from the GMs of all districts in Assam. The meeting was attended by Adil Khan, Secretary, Department of Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprise; Commissioner Industries, Oinam Saran Kumar Singh; MD Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), Manvendra Pratap Singh; MD AIIDC, Chinmoy Phukan; DGMS of Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), AIIDC, ASIDC, and ATCL; GMs of DICCs; and various other senior-level officers of the department.

The Minister further stated that any investors who desire to establish an industry in Assam must adhere to the customised policy (applicable only for Assam), notably the two requirements: they must invest more than 100 Crore and they must generate more than 200 employees, respectively. It is extremely encouraging and a source of pride to announce that another investment tranche of over Rs 2,963 crore by five more companies was approved yesterday at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, following the initial influx of investments totaling Rs 8,200 crore by eight different companies, said Bimal Borah., stated a press release.
