Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah highlights scope of tourism in Assam at national conference

GUWAHATI: State Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah attended the three-day national conference of State Tourism Ministers at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.

Minister Mallabaruah attended the first meeting on Sunday afternoon along with his counterparts from all the other states. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister of Tourism, G. Kishan Reddy. The minister also had an interaction with the mystic and yoga mentor Jagadish 'Jaggi' Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru.

On Monday, Mallabaruah attended the felicitation ceremony where he presented a replica of Maa Kamakhya Temple, authentic tea from Assam and the hand-woven Assamese gamosa to all the ministers and dignitaries who attended the event. Later in the evening, the minister gave a presentation on Assam Tourism on behalf of the Tourism Department, Assam, illustrating the various proponents of the tourism sector in the state. He highlighted the scope of tourism sector in Assam and elaborated on the various schemes and initiatives taken by Assam Government to provide a gratifying experience to both in local and outstation tourists.

Talking to the media, the minister stated that such conferences were extremely important and should take place frequenly to understand and share the varied scope of tourism. It also provides an opportunity to learn about successful tourism models of other states.
