GUWAHATI: State Fishery Minister Parimal Suklabaidya took a number of measures on Saturday for boosting the fishery sector in the State.

The day's programmes included the distribution of KCC (Kishan Credit Cards) among fish farmers, launching a mobile App named Fishfed Mart, inauguration of a renovated Fishfed office and an AC outlet for selling fish.

Distributing KCC cards amounting to Rs 3 crore among 539 fish farmers, in collaboration with APART and Canara Bank, the Minister said, "KCC cards are good sources of financial support to fish farmers. The Fishfed has seen a revolutionary growth since the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government coming to power in the State. Now we're self-reliant on fish production. We've sent proposals worth Rs 1,000 crore for the Prime Minister's fish production scheme. All the proposals have been agreed in principle."
