Minister Rameswar Teli kick-starts construction work of 200-bedded ESIC hospital in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Minister of State for Labour and Employment & Petroleum and Natural Gas, RameswarTeli kick-started the construction work of the 200-bedded ESIC Model Hospital in Beltola on Tuesday. Unveiling the plaque and kick-starting the construction work of the hospital, Teli said that the Ministry of Labor and Employment approved the proposal to build a 200-bed ESIC hospital in Beltola and also approved an estimated cost of about Rs 143 crore.

Teli in his speech said that initially this hospital in Beltola, which is the only Model Hospital run by ESIC in the entire Northeast, used to provide treatment facility only to the insured persons (IP) of the State of Assam, but now it is also providing treatment to the people of other States of Northeast like Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, and Mizoram. After the completion of this hospital not only about 3 lakh IPs of Assam will get better health facilities, but people of many other States of Northeast will also get its benefit, he added.

Making the announcement that the Assam Government has now approved the proposal to handover the ESI Hospital located in Tinsukia to ESIC, Teli said that soon this hospital will provide modern and better treatment facilities to the people through ESIC underthe labor department. He further informed that recently this government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi has implemented ESIC schemes in six more new districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Baksa, Hojai, Charaideo, Dima Hasao and Hailakandi. Now ESI Scheme has been implemented in about 30 districts of Assam, he said.

Talking about e-Shram portal, Rameswar Teli said that so far around 8 crore people have got themselves registered on this portal. He appealed everyone to cooperate with the government in completing the registration as soon as possible.

Talking about ESIC COVID-19 Relief Scheme, Teli said that this scheme was launched in the year 2021, to provide assistance and relief to the families of the insured, in case of death of the insured person due to COVID-19 and under the scheme several lakh rupees have been paid for many claims in Assam so far. In today's event, the minister also handed over the COVID-19 Relief Scheme Certificates to the dependents of IPs. He also started the distribution of e-Shram cards to the beneficiaries of the unorganized sector.

Queen Oja, Member of Lok Sabha, and other dignitaries also graced today's occasion.
