More than 138 Shramik Special trains reach Northeast

GUWAHATI: In the NFR areas, about 665 Shramik Special trains arrived till date. More than 138 Shramik Special trains already reached various Northeast States with nearly 1,88,000 stranded people from all the north-eastern States including Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Assam under NFR. A total of 431 hramik Special trains arrived in the Katihar division and 96 in the Alipurduar division under NFR till last month with the stranded people of Bihar and North Bengal areas. In NFR areas under Katihar division of Bihar trains arrived at stations like Katihar, Purnea, Arraria, Kishanganj. While in North Bengal areas under NFR, trains arrived in stations like Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Aluabari, state a release.

All these Shramik Special trains helped lakhs of stranded people of North Bengal and Bihar areas to reach their home States during the lockdown period till Thursday.

Altogether 34 Shramik Special trains have also originated from various stations under the jurisdiction of NF Railway to carry stranded people from these States to their native places.

In addition to Shramik specials, Indian Railways are also running 15 pairs of special Rajdhani-type trains connecting New Delhi and also 200 more timetabled trains connecting various cities of the country. These special trains are fulfilling the wish of people who are in urgent need of travel.
