Most wanted thief was arrested by Satgaon police in Six Mile area

GUWAHATI: Siraj Ali, the most wanted thief, was arrested by Satgaon police in the Six Mile area on Saturday night. He hails from Kachuapathar, district Nalbari. Last year, during Durga Puja, Siraj Ali committed a theft at a magistrate’s residence in the Baghorbari area under Satgaon Police Station, and in connection with that, a case (164/2022 U/S 457/380 IPC) was registered against him. After days of investigation, finally Satgaon police could arrest him. His thievery was spreading a lot of fear and terrorising every area he had been to.

According to a police source, apart from Kamrup (M), many cases are registered in several police stations in Assam against him. A total of 26 cases were registered against Siraj Ali. Besides Satgaon police station, Geetanagar police station has two cases, Dispur police station has five cases, Sonapur police station has three cases, Bharalamukh police station has one case, Basistha police station has four cases, Hatigaon police station has four cases, Azara police station has one case, Garchuk police station has one case, Noonmati police station has one case, Chandmari police station has one case, Chhaygaon police station has one case, and Basugaon police station has one case that has been registered against Siraj Ali. He has had cases registered against him since 1995.

He changes places as soon as he is done with thievery. He has six wives in Guwahati, and the fourth and sixth wives were already arrested. According to a police source, he resides in Guwahati in a rental apartment. The moment he commits a theft, he changes his place of residence.
