Murder accused remanded to judicial custody in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Tarasan Ali, who was arrested on Monday after he grievously injured another person – that ultimately led to his death– was on Tuesday remanded to judicial custody.

According to police sources, two tempo drivers – Pinku Nath of Barsapara and Tarasan Ali, who hail from Barpeta but lives in a rented house in Guwahati – had an altercation on Monday in the Ganeshpara area under Fatasil Ambari PS. The altercation led to a physical fight during which Tarasan Ali allegedly slammed Pinku Nath’s head on the stones on the road. Pinku sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Dhirenpara FRU where he succumbed to his injuries.

A case (165/2023) was registered in Fatasil Ambari PS u/s 302 of IPC. Tarasan was arrested on Monday and on Tuesday he was produced before the court. The court remanded the accused to judicial custody.
