GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Gorea Morea Deshi Jatiyo Parishad (SAGMDJP) has condemned the Borsala incident and said people should respect the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ram Temple issue.

In a statement, SAGMDJP president Hafizul Ahmed said that two 'outsider' groups were involved in the attack on the procession that was taken out to observe the Bhoomi Pujan of the Ayodhya Ram Temple at Borsola in Sonitpur district.

The indigenous Muslims' body demanded stringent punishment and immediate arrests of the culprits.

Further, Ahmed pointed out Hojai MLA Siladitya Deb's controversial remarks against the former Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) president late Syed Abdul Malik. He said that Deb used the words 'Intellectual Jihadi' against the Padma Bhushan awardee late Malik which is disrespectful to the Assamese society and AXX.

Ahmed alleged Siladitya Deb belongs to Bangladesh and has no right to make such remarks. The leader appealed the Assam Government to restrain Deb.
