N. F. Railway GM inspects development works in Katihar Division

GUWAHATI: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of N. F. Railway, conducted an inspection of the development works and railway facilities at Balurghat, Gangarampur, Eklakhi, and New Jalpaiguri stations under Katihar Division on Thursday. Surendra Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar, and senior officials of the headquarters and division accompanied the general manager during the inspection. The general manager inspected the amenities, ongoing developmental projects, and safety-related gear at the railway stations. He interacted with the railway officials at the station and took feedback on various issues.

The general manager conducted a window-trailing inspection. He inspected crucial areas such as the marshalling yards and coaching yards. He conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing activities and examined the developmental plans for these sections. The general manager inspected the plans for the new station building, crew lobby, Foot Over Bridge, platform, and other passenger amenities.

Further, the general manager held a meeting with the MLA of Gangarampur, Satyendra Nath Ray, and discussed various issues for the overall improvement of stations and nearby areas. He also inspected the ongoing station redevelopment activities at the New Jalpaiguri station. The new Jalpaiguri station under N.F. Railway will be redeveloped in a major way as an international train terminal to provide better, additional, and enhanced passenger amenities. Works for the upgrade have already started.

During his inspection, the general manager interacted with various representatives of media journalists and briefed them about the various developmental activities that have been carried out in the zone as per the guidelines issued by the Railway Board. The General Manager's visit was aimed to review the progress of various developmental works, assess the facilities at different locations, interact with officials, and discuss plans for infrastructural development and business expansion in the area, stated a press release.
