National Human Rights Commission seeks report from Kamrup (M) District Magistrate

NHRC has asked for the Action Taken Report (ATR) from the District Magistrate of the Kamrup Metropolitan district regarding the problems faced by the (CWC) of the district as filed by Dr Monojit Singha.

GUWAHATI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked for the Action Taken Report (ATR) from the District Magistrate of the Kamrup Metropolitan district regarding the problems faced by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of the district as filed by Dr Monojit Singha.

Dr Monojit Singha is a human rights activist based in Guwahati, and he pointed out that CWC, Kamrup Metropolitan was facing multiple problems in his complaint. He mentioned the shortage of members, overburdening of resources and poor infrastructure causing serious threats to the implementation of children’s rights because of the inaction from the government.

Following this, the NHRC asked the District Magistrate of the Kamrup Metropolitan District to submit the Action Taken Repot of the CWC, Kamrup (Metro) District case within 4 weeks on Wednesday.
