GUWAHATI: To commemorate the 131st birth anniversary of the esteemed Padmashri awardee Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Knowledge Research Centre (KRC) of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology is gearing up to observe National Librarians' Day on August 11.
As part of the celebratory events, a talk session will be presented by Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science (DLISC) at the University of Kalyani, Kolkata. The distinguished session will begin with a solemn floral tribute to Dr. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, an iconic figure in librarianship and education. Prof. Ashis K. Mukherjee, the Director of IASST, will deliver the inaugural speech. The main highlight of the event will be the invited talk session by the chief guest, Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay. His presentation will delve into "Fair Access to Research: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable: What Librarians Can Do."
The event will be graced by Prof. Narendra Lahkar, President of IASLIC, along with Prof. Sanjay K. Singh, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Gauhati University. Dr. Tilak Hazarika, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Cotton University, as well as Dr. Prasanta Kr. Deka, Librarian, K. K. Handique Library, Gauhati University, and Dr. Dhrubajit Das, Librarian at SB Deorah College and President of ACLA., stated a press release.
