National Voters' Day: Election officials to be awarded for exceptional service

In consonance with directions from the Election Commission of India, the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam will distribute State-level awards

GUWAHATI: In consonance with directions from the Election Commission of India, the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam will distribute State-level awards under different categories to officials who have rendered exceptional service and have set benchmarks of commitment and dedication to successful completion of the electoral process. The awards will be given to the selected awardees on the occasion of National Voters' Day, 2023 to be celebrated centrally in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Pulak Mahanta, Deputy Commissioner and DEO, Majuli; Gayatri Hyalinge, SDO (Civil) and DEO, Titabar; and Rahul Gupta, the then SDO (Civil) and DEO, Gossaigaon have been selected for the Best District Election Officers Award for their outstanding contribution in safe and peaceful conduct of bye-elections in a free and fair manner.

Gayatri Sarma, ERO, 84-Batradaba LAC and Mousam Pratim Nath, ERO, 33-Bijni LAC have been selected for the Best Electoral Registration Officer Award for their significant works rendered in the capacity of ERO during Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll, 2022 and 2023.

Dr Bhupali Kashyap, Election Officer, Kaliabar has been selected for the Special Award for her unique as well as creative works in connection with voters' education and awareness and election management. Mamtaz Ahmed, Programmer, office of the CEO, Assam; Chandan Basfor, Data Entry Operator, Kamrup (metro) district; Gitartha Kumar Nath, Junior Assistant, Election Branch, office of the Deputy Commissioner, Nalbari, have been selected for the Special Award for their excellent works and inspiring commitment towards electoral roll management.

Boby Hazarika, BLO, PS 94, Kaliabar, and Phanish Narayan Dev, BLO, PS 228, Bongaigaon have been selected for the Best Booth Level Officer Award for their outstanding contribution to electoral roll management.

In the National Voters Awareness Contest, 2022 organized by the Election Commission of India, Rupjyoti Nath of Assam has secured first position in singing competition and Rajesh Das of Assam has secured special mention in slogan-writing competition.
