Nationalist Congress Party unveiled former Assam CM Sarat Chandra Sinha's statue

Commemorating the 16th death anniversary of former Assam Chief Minister Sarat Chandra Sinha, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Sarat Chandra Sinha Birth Centenary Celebration Committee 2013-14 (SCSBCCC) unveiled his statue and inaugurated a memorial gate here at Lakshidhar Bora Kshetra on Friday.

GUWAHATI: Commemorating the 16th death anniversary of former Assam Chief Minister Sarat Chandra Sinha, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Sarat Chandra Sinha Birth Centenary Celebration Committee 2013-14 (SCSBCCC) unveiled his statue and inaugurated a memorial gate here at Lakshidhar Bora Kshetra on Friday.

Virtually addressing the function, NCP president Sharad Pawar said that Late Sinha had contributed immensely to Assam and its politics. He always followed the Gandhian philosophy. "He never misused power. He used power only for the welfare of the people of the State". Pawar said that he is optimistic that the ideology of Late Sinha would motivate the people of Assam. He was happy to unveil the statue of the great leader.

NCP secretary Narendra B Verma, who was present at the function, said that the philosophy of Sarat Chandra Sinha would not die and his illustrious political life was a rare combination of honesty, simplicity and integrity.

Other noted personalities present on the occasion are SCSBCCC chairman Sarat Borkataky, State NCP president Dhirendra Dev Adhikary, former Axam Xahitya Xabha president Kanak Sen Deka, MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan and others.
