NEROWCC slams Oil India Limited over Baghjan blowout incident

GUWAHATI: North-Eastern Region Oil Workers' Co-ordination Committee (NEROWCC) expressed concern over the Baghjan blowout incident.

In a statement, NEROWCC general secretary Biren Kalita blamed the Oil India Limited (OIL) for the crisis. Kalita demanded that one member from each of the two deceased's family should be given a job and compensation. "The affected people should be compensated and Dibru-Saikhua Wildlife Sanctuary should be saved from the increasing fire," he added. Further, he underlined that OIL and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) should not give the oil and natural gas extraction work to private sectors.
