GUWAHATI: An initiative – "Let's LIGHT UP LIFE"- was taken up by Touch of Humanity, an NGO on the auspicious eve of Diwali as well as Children's Day.

Through this initiative they are providing Solar Lamps to the poor school going children's families who are still deprived from electricity facilities due to which they are not able to study during nights. It is an attempt to support the children to study more and to bring glory in their lives as like the lamp gives light in the dark. In a message they want to convey that Diwali is to be celebrated as the festival of Light in true sense by spreading love and light in life rather than burning crackers which leads to air pollution as well as noise pollution which creates chaos and harm the street animals and environment as a whole to a larger extent. Diwali is all about bringing light, happiness and well being. This year they are distributing 20 solar lamps to 20 families of Village 2 no Khargoli, Ram Singh Gaon, P.O Bonda, PS Noonmati, Ward 6, District Kamrup Metro which is also a flood-affected area, a press release said.
