GUWAHATI: Guwahati Smart City Limited has developed projects that have not produced the expected results. According to the citizens of Guwahati, these projects are unfortunately a waste of funds. Some of these projects are the Water ATM and GMC's Super Suckers. The Super Suckers, drain cleaning vehicles, are expensive, and they do not have properly trained handlers available for them. Furthermore, these machines are not suitable for every drain. Therefore, they have ended up being less useful than expected due to poor planning.

Flood season is arriving, but drains have not been cleaned properly, with the garbage being lumped on the side of the street by manual labourers. These projects would have worked if they had proper planning. Hence, outside experts are needed to train individuals to handle the Super Sucker vehicles. Because of poor planning, drains are still manually cleaned, which still poses a problem. According to sources, these projects are worth crores of rupees. Ten of the super suckers were bought in 2021.
