No respite for jailed KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi, next hearing on Dec 8

Gogoi's bail plea was rejected earlier by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) who is investigating his case

Guwahati: Another round of hearing regarding the bail plea of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader, Akhil Gogoi in a case related to protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) was held in the Guwahati High Court on Thursday.

The hearing for bail plea which was earlier rejected by NIA was completed after the third hearing.

The hearing was held through a video conference with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Delhi.

Speaking to media persons, Gogoi's lawyer said that the submissions from Gogoi's side are done, NIA still has a few issues, therefore, the next date of hearing has been fixed scheduled on December 8.

Gogoi was arrested for his alleged role in violence during the Anti-CAA protest last year from Jorhat on December 12.

Gogoi is imprisoned at the Guwahati jail for the last 11 months.
