GUWAHATI: The North East Girl Students Association (NEGSA) has condemned the violence and lawlessness that have gripped the state of Manipur for the last few weeks. Munmi Dutta, President of NEGSA, has appealed in a statement to all sections of the people of Manipur to bring an end to the senseless violence that has caused irreparable damage and destruction to the state. The savage act of raping and parading naked two young girls publicly speaks of the extreme violation of human rights, and the miscreants involved in these incidents should be given exemplary punishment. Appealing for peace and harmony amongst various ethnic groups, she said that the girls from both the Meitei and Kuki communities had worked together in this organization and the relationships between the girls from both communities were always cordial and friendly. The woe and suffering due to this violence are having a very pathetic impact on the women and children, and it will take a very long time for the people to overcome the sense of grief and mental shock due to the present crisis.

NEGSA has also decided to carry out a Peace Mission to Manipur very shortly and has asked all its former-members from the State of Manipur to contact NEGSA headquarter at Guwahati through email negsa1998@gmail.com or Phone number 9435143235 to establish a strong and effective network to bring an end to the mindless violence and establish goodwill between various communities by all means., stated a press release.
