Hare Krishna Mandir, North Guwahati Celebrated the 9th year of Sri Jagannath Rathyatra at North Guwahati amidst great fanfare.

Guwahati: Hare Krishna Mandir, North Guwahati Celebrated the 9th year of Sri Jagannath Rathyatra at North Guwahati amidst great fanfare. The Chariot carrying their Lordships Sri Sri Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra and Nitai Gaurasundar started at around 4 pm from Hare Krishna Mandir, North Guwahati.

The Inaugural function was attended by Minister Ashoksinghal, Deputy Mayor Smitha Roy and others. The Rathayatra started with all the dignitaries offering camphor Arati and cleaning the street in front of the Ratha proceeded along the thoroughfares of North Guwahati, College Chowk and Silasaku culminated at Anandaram Baruah School near Doulgivinda temple at around 7.30 pm.

The grand entourage led by a decked-up elephant and accompanied by traditional Gayan-Bayan enthralled the people of the entire area. There were Sankirtan performances by devotees of the Hare Krishna Movement, Guwahati and Naam-Prasanga by local groups from Hajo, Sualkuchi and other adjoining places.

Throughout the way, devotees offered various articles like fruits, flowers etc for the pleasure of their Lordships. Also, Kurmaprasadam was distributed to all devotees and at the culmination point of Sri Anandaram Baruah school, a grand Arati was offered in honour of Their Lordships which was followed by a sumptuous Prasadam of Kichidi, Kheer, Tomato Chutney to all the assembled devotees, a press release said.
