GUWAHATI: The All Assam Heads of the Department Ministerial Officers’ Association have announced their support towards the protest called by the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) on October 7 against National Pension System (NPS).

In a statement issued by the All Assam Heads of the Department Ministerial Officers’ Association, they mentioned that a total of 2,64, 223 employees have been registered under the NPS. Out of them, around 9258 employees have retired with a very low pension and because of the inability to send their own money to the NSDL Portal, many more have not been given any pension at retirement. They also mentioned that although the death of an employee registered under the NPS, the family is entitled to a small pension, there is no provision for the family to receive the money saved by the employee. They also mentioned that the NPS is full of problems and it is not fair for the employees to be refrained from their due pension.

The statement also added that as per the executive body meeting of the All Assam Heads of the Department Ministerial Officers’ Association organised on October 3, they have decided to give their full support to the protest to be undertaken by the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad on Saturday. They also appealed to the members to be a part of the same from 11 AM to 2 PM on the mentioned date.
