Padma Shri Dr Kameswar Brahma honoured with Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award-2021

Noted writer, academician and Padma Shri Dr Kameswar Brahma was honoured with the ‘Third Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award-2021’ for his outstanding contributions and research on Gurudev’s life and dedication at a function in the ‘Phanidhar Dutta Seminar Hall’ in Gauhati University on Sunday.

GUWAHATI: Noted writer, academician and Padma Shri Dr Kameswar Brahma was honoured with the 'Third Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Award-2021' for his outstanding contributions and research on Gurudev's life and dedication at a function in the 'Phanidhar Dutta Seminar Hall' in Gauhati University on Sunday.

The award was instituted by the GKBT (Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust), and the award was it conferred jointly with the varsity unit of ABSU (All Bodo Students' Union).

GKBT secretary, Dr Ajit Boro had earlier said that the decision to confer the award to Dr Kameswar Brahma was taken in a meeting of the trust held recently under the presidentship of Trust president Rakheswar Brahma. He said the award would be given to Dr. Brahma on the basis of his contribution toward's the development of philosophy of Gurudev in particular and for his vast contributions in the field of literature and society. He has several books to his credit and was the retired Principal of Gossaigaon College. He was associated with the Bodo Sahitya Sabha for years and also became the president of the Sabha.

Delivering his lecture on the occasion as the chief guest, BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) chief Pramod Boro said, "Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma stressed on building a strong society. The young generation must take inspiration from Gurudev." He also announced the birthday of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma will be observed offically in BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region).

As Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma could not be personally present during the function owing to his ill health, the award on his behalf was accepted by Pyari Mohan Brahma, assistant secretary of the Trust. Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, Dr. Pratap Jyoti Handique was the special guest on the occasion.
