Pension convocation of NPS employees held in Lokhra, Guwahati

The All Assam Govt. NPS Employees Association held a convocation to distribute pension at the Udayan Krishti Sangha field in Lokhra on Tuesday.

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Govt. NPS Employees Association held a convocation to distribute pension at the Udayan Krishti Sangha field in Lokhra on Tuesday. The Association also held a tribute ceremony to pay tribute to the former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Association president Achuyutananda Hazarika and principal secretary Partha Hazarika in a statement said, the convocation was held in a symbolic manner to follow the three-day mourning period announced by the government.

Various persons delivered speeches during the programme including - National Old Pension Restoration United Front national president BP Singh Rawat, national general secretary Ghulam Yazdani, and Meghalaya coordinator ID Sangma.

Former secretary-general of Sadou Asom Karmachari Parisad Charan Deka and former president of Sadou Asom Shikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha Prabhat Kalita also addressed the gathering.

The Association stressed the government to continue the Old Pension Scheme to 'secure' the future of the government employees.

It also announced the launch of an agitation programme - Mission to OPS for All.
