Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed
that Rs. 28 lakh was collected by some people in the last three months
proclaiming that no eviction would be taken place.
He however said that those people have created havoc among the people when they failed to restrain the eviction.
"As per intelligence reports Rs. 28 lakh was collected by some people in the last three months proclaiming that no eviction would be taken place. Before the incident, Popular Front of India (PFI) visited the villagers in the name of carrying food items to the evicted families. Already, we have identified six persons connected with it. We are emerging various evidence, implicating certain people, including a lecturer." asserted CM Sarma.
Normalcy has been limping back in the Dhalpur area in the aftermath of the killing of two encroachers in police firing during the eviction drive on Thursday. The 'zanaza' of both the killed persons have been performed in their respective villages as per religious rituals on Friday midnight as the family members received the bodies from the administration. Chairman of 'Project Gorukhuti' cum Sootea legislator Padma Hazarika on Friday restarted cultivation in the plot of the land made free from encroachment. He drove a tractor to lead another twenty tractors to plough the land.
'Project Gorukhuti' is not only the dream project of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, it is a dream project for the entire state to engage and involve the educated unemployed youth in carrying out agriculture farming adopting the scientific way. Our humble intention is to protect our land and to take up the market with our agri produces by creating work culture among the indigenous youth" firmly said Padma Hazarika before 'The Sentinel' while driving the tractor at Dhalpur field this afternoon. "During the historic six years long Assam Agitation from 1979 to 1985 we had the dream of involving the youth in agriculture to make them self sufficient. But the AGP government though was in the power for two terms miserably failed to transform this dream into reality. We are committed to fulfilling our long felt dream" he added.
