GUWAHATI: A section of people from Amerigog, Amsing, and Jorabat have decided to boycott the Tiwa Autonomous Council Election on December 17. They are opposing the government's decision to include the areas outside the tribal belt under the Council. They alleged that without consent the government took a one-sided decision and include these areas under the Council. To show resentment against the decision, the people will organize a protest rally in Sonapur on Thursday. The decisions were taken following a meeting of the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union, Kamrup Branch held in Jorabat on Tuesday. The students' union said they will submit a memorandum to the Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner demanding the government to revert their decision to include areas outside the tribal belt into the Council. The meeting was attended by Assam Gorkha Students' Union executive members Tinku Poudel, Bisnu Prasad Chapai, the union's Kamrup branch president and secretary, among others.
