GUWAHATI: Amidst the distress due to COVID-19 pandemic, the frustrated local people of the Satgaon area in Guwahati came out to the streets on Sunday to protest demanding repair of damaged road. Hundreds of people of different age groups came out to the streets amid the weekend lockdown at Palital in Satgaon over the pitiable condition of the road.

The protesters claimed that the road has not been renovated for the past 14/15 years and the locals had to repair the road by themselves whenever the situation got worsened. One of the locals said that over 2,000 people live in the area and they have been suffering a lot for years as the road goes under water after a heavy rain. The public questioned over the promise made by the public representatives before election.

Expressing disappointment over the situation that they are bound to deal during rainy days, they appealed to all fellow members to repair the road in unison. One of the protesters said that it is disappointing that due to the bad road condition the students of the area face a lot of difficulty while going to schools and colleges. "We demand the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister to look into the matter as it is very shameful that we're dealing with this problem for years together despite many appeals to the government," a protester said.
