Petrol Price in Guwahati Just Rs 1.90 Short of Hitting Century; LPG Price at Rs 998.50

GUWAHATI: With the continuous hike in petrol and desiel prices over the last 3 days, Guwahatians may soon witness petrol price breaching the Rs.100 mark again.

In Guwahati along with rest of Assam, the price of petrol and diesel were hiked by 80 paise each, with this now the price of petrol in Guwahati is just Rs 1.90 short of hitting the 100-rupee mark, now at Rs. 98.10. On the other hand, diesel price per liter stood at Rs 84.19 in the city.

Notably, in the last 5 days if we take into account the fuel price have gone up by Rs. 3.20 a litre, blaming to the rising raw material costs, according to official.

According to Moody's Investors Services, fuel retailers IOC, BPCL, and HPCL collectively lost around USD 2.25 billion (Rs 19,000 crore) in revenue due to holding petrol and diesel prices during elections in the five states.

Earlier, on November 4th, 2021 the government announced a Rs 5 per litre cut in excise duty on petrol and a Rs 10 per litre cut in excise duty on diesel to provide relief to customers and cushion them against the soaring prices international crude oil prices.

Speaking about the domestic gas 16 districts of Assam have crossed the Rs 1,000 mark since the price of 14.2 kg LPG refills was raised by Rs 50 on Tuesday. The price of cooking gas in Guwahati is Rs 998.50 with an additional charge taken by the delivery boy which range from Rs. 30- Rs. 50.
