PJACBM chief convenor Garjan Mushahary along with supporters join Congress

The Congress party in Assam got a shot in the arm as the chief convenor of PJACBM (People’s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement), Garjan Mushahary along with a score of his State-level supporters joined the INC

GUWAHATI: The Congress party in Assam got a shot in the arm as the chief convenor of PJACBM (People's Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement), Garjan Mushahary along with a score of his State-level supporters joined the INC (Indian National Congress) at the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) HQs (headquarters) — Rajiv Bhawan here on Thursday.

Welcoming Garjan Mushahary and other leaders into the fold of the Congress party, APCC president Borah said, "A new light on the horizon will be seen in the BTR from today."

CLP leader Debabrata Saikia said, "The joining of Garjan Mushahary will strengthen the Congress party in the BTR".

After the joining ceremony, PJACBM leader Mushahary said, "We have been carrying on a mission for peace among the people in Bodoland since long. Problems like unemployment have greatly distressed the youth and their future is also at stake. That is why we have joined the Congress, attracted by the policies and ideals of the party. We will endeavour to resolve these and many other issues of the masses.

On the occasion, a glittering joining ceremony was organized in the presence of APCC president Bhupen Borah; ACLP Leader Debabrata Saikia; APCC working presidents and MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Zakir Hussain Sikdar, and senior party leaders including former Minister Sarat Barkataki, Hiranya Bora, Dwijen Sharma, and Bolin Kuli among others.
