Foundation to be laid for 7 others

GUWAHATI: Sharing some good news for the health sector of Assam, Health & Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate seven cancer hospitals in the State on April 28, while also laying the foundation of seven more new cancer hospitals.
The cancer hospitals which will be inaugurated are located at Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Darrang, Kokrajhar, Jorhat and Barpeta. On the other hand, foundations will be laid for new cancer hospitals at Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Nagaon, Nalbari, Goalpara and Dhubri. Mahanta informed the media on Tuesday that both the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies will take place at the same venue at Dibrugarh.
Prior to the event at Dibrugarh, the Prime Minister will also attend an event at Karbi Anglong earlier on April 28, Mahanta added.
The Health & Family Welfare Minister also informed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Super Speciality Unit at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on May 10.
