GUWAHATI: The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA), an organization working for the welfare of differently-abled people, staged a protest at Dispur Last Gate in the city on Tuesday. Shouting various slogans, the protesters blocked the entrance to the ministers' colony.

PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar said, " On October 5, 2018, differently-abled people had staged a protest at Dispur Last Gate to demand their rights. The police had beaten them. Since then, Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam has been observing this day as black day."

More than 300 divyangs had assembled at the protest site. "We just want the government to fulfil our demands and give divyangs their rights," added Malakar. The protesters later handed over a memorandum to the Joint Secretary of the Home Department, Animesh Talukdar.
